I got this emailed to me this morning. It is about a scholarship being developed in Phil Hays name at The Society of Illustrators. -Bob
Hi everyone
I am writing to you as a group to let you know that we are starting to
auction some of Phil Hays’ personal property, with the proceeds all
going to the society of illustrators in New York, where a dedicated
scholarship is being established in Phil’s name. So far, proceeds from
the sale of Phil’s car, some of his rugs, his records and some other
things are on their way to the society. In the next month, we’d like to
sell most of the furniture. In the near future, we will also be selling
some of Phil’s original paintings, both on ebay and through some
galleries in New York that specialize in illustration. We are also
selling some of the work that Phil owned by other artists, again with
all proceeds benefitting this scholarship fund.
This first piece of furniture was listed on ebay today and is a one
week auction. please spread the word to all your friends and colleagues
and anyone that you think might be interested. If you feel like
emailing me any addresses then we can add them to our list in the
future for other auctions.
let me know if you have questions or if there’s something of Phil’s
that you might be interested in.
Of course direct donations to the society in Phil’s name are also
welcomed. Simply send a check and specify PHIL HAYS SCHOLARSHIP FUND on
the memo line of the check. Contact Terry Brown at the Society for more
